Why Bua Luang

What sets the work apart

Assessed before agreed

Every watch receives a careful look before any work begins. We share our findings plainly, answer questions, and proceed only when the owner is comfortable with the plan.

Unhurried pace

Fine mechanical work cannot be rushed. We set realistic timelines, keep the owner gently informed of progress, and take the time each piece deserves.

Craft over volume

We take on a considered number of watches at any time. This means each piece receives full attention, not a place in a long queue where it risks being overlooked.

Respect for originality

Original dials, cases, and movements hold a watch's character. We work to conserve rather than replace, particularly for antique and collectible pieces.

Written records

You receive a clear written account of the work carried out — useful for your own records and for any future watchmaker who works on the piece.

Open communication

Questions are welcomed at any stage. If something unexpected arises during the work, we pause, explain, and wait for your direction before continuing.

Common Questions

What people often ask

How do I know whether my watch needs a full service?

A mechanical watch generally benefits from attention every four to six years, even if it appears to be running well. If yours is losing or gaining more than a minute or two per day, or if it has not been serviced since before 2019, it is worth bringing in. We are happy to take a look and let you know our honest assessment before committing to any work.

How long does a Movement Clean & Service usually take?

For most standard mechanical movements, we expect to complete the work within two to four weeks. Complicated calibres or movements in poor condition may take a little longer. We keep you informed of progress throughout, so you are never left wondering where things stand.

Do you work on quartz watches as well as mechanical ones?

Our focus is mechanical and automatic movements, where our skills are deepest. For battery-powered watches we are glad to advise, but we may suggest a more suitable workshop if servicing the quartz module is the main requirement. The strap, bracelet, and case care service is open to all watch types.

Can you source a replacement part for my antique watch?

For antique pieces where original parts are no longer available, we are able to make certain components by hand. Whether that is the right approach depends on the watch, its age, and what you hope for it. We discuss this openly during the initial assessment, and no work of that kind proceeds without your agreement and a clear price estimate.

What happens if something unexpected arises during the work?

We pause, photograph what we have found, and contact you with a plain description of the situation and the options available. Nothing beyond what was agreed proceeds until you give your approval. Your watch, your decision.
