The difference
is in the detail
Most workshops can replace a part. Fewer understand why a part failed, or what the movement tells you when you take the time to read it. That attention to the full picture is what shapes our work.

Specialist watchmakers
Each service is carried out by a trained watchmaker, not a technician working from a generic checklist.
Nothing proceeds without consent
We assess, explain, and ask before we act. You will not be surprised by an invoice for work you did not approve.
Realistic timelines
We give honest estimates and keep you informed throughout. We do not over-promise and rush to compensate.
Conservation over replacement
Where original parts can be saved, we save them — particularly for antique and heirloom watches.
Clear, written records
Every completed service comes with a written record of the work done — useful for insurance and future servicing.
Transparent pricing
Published prices with no hidden additions. If the work requires more than anticipated, we tell you before proceeding.
Five reasons to choose Bua Luang
Watchmaking expertise, not just repair skills
The difference between a watchmaker and someone who replaces parts matters most when a movement has an unusual fault, or when a watch is old enough that standard parts no longer exist. Our team trained in Europe and Japan and can read a movement the way a doctor reads an X-ray — not just identifying what is broken, but understanding why and what it implies for the whole system.
- Trained to Swiss horology standards
- Antique calibre knowledge including pre-war pocket watches
- Ability to fabricate hand-made parts for scarce movements
A process built around your decision
Every watch at Bua Luang follows a three-stage process: assessment and reporting, agreement on scope and price, then work. Nothing in the second or third stage proceeds without your explicit agreement from the first. This means there are no surprises when you collect the watch, and no feeling that the decision was taken out of your hands.
- Written assessment provided before work begins
- Price agreed in advance, not estimated after
- Owner contacted if anything changes mid-work
Professional-grade tools and materials
We use ultrasonic cleaning equipment, Swiss-made lubricants, timing machines, and watchmaker's lathes where needed. These are the same tools found in reputable workshops in Geneva and Tokyo — not hobbyist equipment or substitutes. The quality of the materials used in a service has a direct effect on how long a movement runs well after the work is done.
- Ultrasonic cleaning for movement parts
- Moebius lubricants for escapement and gear train
- Timing machine verification in multiple positions
Communication that respects your time and intelligence
We explain what we find in plain language — not because we assume you do not understand watches, but because clear explanations are simply better. We welcome questions at every stage. If you want to understand what a specific part does or why a service is recommended, we are glad to explain. If you prefer just the summary, that is fine too.
- No jargon unless you ask for it
- Progress updates for longer jobs
- Available by phone and email during working hours
Value measured over years, not days
A movement service done well should last four to six years before it needs repeating. One done hastily, or with inferior lubricants, may need attention within eighteen months. The price of a Bua Luang service reflects this longer horizon — we carry out the work thoroughly the first time so that the next service is not needed ahead of schedule.
- Published prices from ฿4,500 — no hidden additions
- Work designed to last the full service interval
- Written service record helps maintain watch value

Things you will not find everywhere
Hand-made replacement parts
For antique movements where original parts are no longer manufactured, we are able to produce certain components on a watchmaker's lathe. This service is rare outside Switzerland and Japan and is what makes a full antique restoration possible rather than merely cosmetic.
Dedicated time for each piece
We do not accept more watches than we can attend to properly. This means each piece in our care receives individual attention from the watchmaker, not a queue position in a pile. We ask clients to book ahead for this reason.
Photographic documentation
For antique restorations and complex service jobs, we photograph key stages of the work. These images form part of the written record returned to the owner and are particularly valuable for heirloom pieces.
Post-service advice
When we return a watch, we include plain advice on how to care for it going forward — storage, magnetism, water resistance, and the appropriate interval before the next service. Small habits extend a movement's running life considerably.
